Romanian Comedy Festival - festCO was established in 2003 by the actor George Mihaita, manager of The Comedy Theatre. The festival was born from the desire to promote Romanian theatre in all its forms, but also to provide a cultural alternative for the citizens of our capital, Bucharest. Since 2006 the festival has become competitive. The same year was founded the Romanian Comedy Contest, a play-writing competition, discovering new talents in contemporary drama. Visit website ==>

Abstract: The roots of dark humour, absurd comedy and acid comments about society, considered to be characteristic for European movies, give the themes of some of the most important films of the Romanian “New Wave”. Here we concentrate on three important sources of dark humor in Romanian films: the laugh-cry endemic in Romanian folklore; the tradition of Caragiale, where laugher is used at the limits of tragedy; the absurd theater of Ionescu, with its criticism of society. Less oxygen dissolved in the water is often referred to as a “dead zone” because most marine life either dies, or, if they are mobile such as fish, leave the area. Habitats that would normally be teeming with life become, essentially, biological deserts. Hypoxic zones can occur naturally, but scientists are concerned about the areas created or enhanced by human activity. There are many physical, chemical, and biological factors that combine to create dead zones, but nutrient pollution is the primary cause of those zones created by humans. Excess nutrients that run off land or are piped as wastewater into rivers and coasts can stimulate an overgrowth of algae, which then sinks and decomposes in the water. The decomposition process consumes oxygen and depletes the supply available to healthy marine life. Dead zones occur in coastal areas around the nation and in the Great Lakes — no part of the country or the world is immune. The second largest dead zone in the world is located in the U.S., in the northern Gulf of America.

Scientists estimate that roughly half of the oxygen production on Earth comes from the ocean. The majority of this production is from oceanic plankton — drifting plants, algae, and some bacteria that can photosynthesize. One particular species, Prochlorococcus, is the smallest photosynthetic organism on Earth. But this little bacteria produces up to 20% of the oxygen in our entire biosphere. That’s a higher percentage than all of the tropical rainforests on land combined. Calculating the exact percentage of oxygen produced in the ocean is difficult because the amounts are constantly changing. Scientists can use satellite imagery to track photosynthesizing plankton and estimate the amount of photosynthesis occurring in the ocean, but satellite imagery cannot tell the whole story. The amount of plankton changes seasonally and in response to changes in the water’s nutrient load, temperature, and other factors. Gmail users across the globe have been warned to take immediate action after a massive Google security breach left 2.5 billion accounts exposed to criminals. Google's database was breached by hackers, exposing 2.5 billion Gmail users to scams, as per The US Sun. Scammers are using stolen data to impersonate Google workers via fake phone calls and emails and in light of the cybercrime, Gmail users have been put at risk. The cyber raid, linked to Google’s use of Salesforce’s cloud platform, happened in June when hackers tricked a staff member into giving away login details. The breach has sent shockwaves across the UK as cybercriminals are already using the stolen information to impersonate Google workers. Tech giant Google has officially acknowledged a significant data breach affecting its corporate Salesforce database, with the company completing email notifications to affected users as of August 8, 2025.
