Rules and Scoring in Competitive Archery
images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSQ-n4mhItQgXr_GcUxXqG

Competitive archery is governed internationally by the World Archery Federation, which sets the rules for tournaments and Olympic events. In Olympic archery, athletes use a recurve bow and shoot arrows at a target placed 70 meters away. The target consists of 10 concentric rings, each representing a score from 1 to 10 points. The gold center rings score the highest points, while outer rings score fewer. During matches, archers usually shoot sets of three arrows, and points are accumulated based on where the arrows land on the target. Matches often follow a set-based system in which archers compete across multiple rounds until a winner is determined. Precision is extremely important because even a slight difference in arrow placement can decide the outcome of a competition.
