Did you know that Bulgaria has a unique tradition called Martenitsa
images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTm3ex-EpDf1vmWTw7fbB3

celebrated every year on March 1st? On this day, people exchange red-and-white bracelets or decorations called martenitsi as a symbol of health, happiness, and the arrival of spring. Bulgarians wear them for days or even weeks until they see the first stork, swallow, or blooming tree, which signals the true beginning of spring. Once that happens, the martenitsa is tied to a tree or placed under a stone, blending ancient pagan beliefs with modern Bulgarian culture in a tradition that has survived for centuries.
