In 1977, humans sent a message to possible extraterrestrial life that is now over 24 billion kilometers away.

NASA launched the Voyager Golden Record, a gold-plated copper disc attached to the Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft. It contains sounds of Earth (like ocean waves and a baby crying), music from different cultures, and greetings in 55 languages—all meant to represent humanity in case an intelligent civilization ever finds it.

Voyager 1 is now the most distant human-made object in existence, traveling through interstellar space.

A real message from Earth… still flying after nearly 50 years.
