Meanwhile, Liga de Quito hosts Universidad Católica at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado Stadium. Universidad Católica defeated Barcelona SC 3-2 in the Copa Ecuador final last Thursday, securing the title in the tournament organized by the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF).

 

Liga de Quito has yet to defeat Universidad Católica this season.

Currently, Barcelona SC holds second place, but only by a single point over their closest rival, Liga de Quito.

The results Barcelona SC needs to clinch second place: If Liga de Quito defeats Universidad Católica, Barcelona SC must also defeat Liga de Quito.

If Liga de Quito draws, a draw against Independiente del Valle would allow Barcelona SC to secure second place. If Barcelona SC loses, they would drop to third place because, although they would be tied with Liga de Quito on points, Liga de Quito has a better goal difference (25 vs. 10). With a loss for the home side, Barcelona SC could afford to lose to their opponent as well, since neither team would gain any points and the standings would remain unchanged.
