The first attempt at a consumer version of Windows built on the NT kernel.

Planned successor to Windows 98

Aimed at home users (while Windows 2000 was for business)

Introduced early concepts of:

Fast user switching

A simplified “Activity Center” UI (inspired later features in XP)

Only one build leaked: Build 5111

Why unique:
It was the earliest glimpse of what would eventually become Windows XP.
