 The Ultimate Scout Strategy Guide (TF2)

"Speed is your greatest asset, but your fragile health is your greatest debt."

1. The Core Fundamentals [00:44]

Speed & Mobility: Scout is the fastest class (133% speed). Your primary survival tool is the Double Jump. Use it to change direction mid-air and become unpredictable.

Capture Rate: You count as 2 people on capture points and carts. This makes you the ultimate objective player for "Cap Rushing."

The Glass Cannon: With only 125 HP, you cannot trade damage. You must win fights through movement, not health.

2. The Playstyle: "Hit and Run" [02:36]

Scout is a Pick Class. Your goal is to find isolated targets, get close for "Meatshots" (high-damage point-blank hits), and leave before the enemy team reacts.

Overextending = Death: If you see more than two power classes (Soldier, Demo, Heavy), run away. Living is always better than dying for a trade [03:40].

Flanking: Use alternative routes to get behind the enemy. The first shot usually decides the fight. If they don't see you coming, you've already won [04:19].

3. High-Tier Loadout Analysis [06:51]

PrimaryStock/Scattergun Most reliable. 6 shots allow for mistakes and multiple kills [07:05].

SecondaryPistol / Pretty Boy’sEssential for finishing off targets at medium range [08:14].

MeleeAtomizerGrants a Triple Jump while deployed. The utility for escaping is unmatched [10:54].

Avoid the Back Scatter (unreliable) and the Sandman (the health penalty makes you too easy to one-shot).

4. Aiming Techniques [06:23]

Tracking: Keeping the crosshair on the target (best for Pistols).

Flicking: Quick "snaps" to the target (best for Scattergun).

Planting: Keeping your crosshair still and letting the enemy walk into it. Pro Tip: Use your A and D keys to "strafe-aim" rather than just moving your mouse.

5. Class Matchups & Counter-Tactics [11:36]

vs. Soldier: Stay off the ground. Soldiers rely on floor splash damage. Take the High Ground to force them to hit direct shots, which is harder for them [12:32].

vs. Demoman: Get in their face. Demos struggle at point-blank range because their pipes are hard to hit and stickies take time to arm [14:19].

vs. Engineer (The Nemesis): Avoid Sentries at all costs. If you must fight one, use corners to "peek" or jump away so the knockback pushes you to safety [15:07].

vs. Medic: Your #1 Priority. Killing a Medic—even if you die—is a "Winning Trade" for your team [16:33].
