TheDude @ LCS Postat Februarie 18 Postat Februarie 18 Revolutionary ZFS Filesystem In Solaris One of Solaris’ most famous and influential contributions to computing is the ZFS (Zettabyte File System). ZFS was revolutionary because it combined volume management and filesystem features into a single system, something that was uncommon at the time. It introduced advanced capabilities such as data integrity verification, automatic repair of corrupted data, snapshots, cloning, compression, and massive storage scalability. ZFS constantly checks data using checksums, meaning silent data corruption is detected and corrected automatically if redundancy exists. This made Solaris extremely reliable for large storage servers. Even today, many modern operating systems and storage platforms have adopted or been inspired by ZFS concepts, proving how far ahead Solaris was in storage technology. SOURCE
