Windows uses a system called the File Explorer to help users manage files, folders, and drives. It is one of the most important parts of the Windows operating system.

1. File Explorer

The main tool for browsing files.

You can open it with Win + E.

Shows drives, folders, documents, downloads, pictures, etc.
 

2. Drives and Partitions

Windows labels storage areas using letters:

*C:* — main system drive where Windows is installed

*D:, E:* etc. — can be other internal drives, USBs, or DVD drives
 

3. NTFS File System

Most Windows computers use NTFS.

Supports long filenames, permissions, encryption, and large files.
