FHISKER Postat Joi la 23:49 Postat Joi la 23:49 The cradle of humanity is a term widely used in paleoanthropology, the science that studies human ancestors (fossil hominids). If we stick to its literal meaning, this expression refers to the place where the first humans belonging to our genus, Homo, appeared and evolved. In practice, it is often implied that this is the place where the oldest hominids were found, not just the first Homo. Africa is the cradle of humanity for two reasons. The first is that humans' closest living cousins are the African great apes, something Charles Darwin had already stated in 1871. Source
