The seven European institutions, nine EU bodies, and more than 30 decentralized agencies are spread across the EU. They work together to promote the common interests of the EU and European citizens. Regarding the administration, 20 other EU agencies and bodies carry out specific legal functions, and four interinstitutional services support the institutions. All of these institutions have specific roles, ranging from the development of EU legislation and policies to policy implementation and activities in specialized areas such as health, medicine, transport, and the environment.
