The European Union's institutional structure is unique, and its decision-making system is constantly evolving. The seven European institutions, nine EU bodies, and more than 30 decentralized agencies are spread across the EU. They work together to promote the common interests of the EU and European citizens.

Regarding the administration, 20 other EU agencies and bodies carry out specific legal functions, and four interinstitutional services support the institutions.

All of these institutions have specific roles, ranging from the development of EU legislation and policies to policy implementation and activities in specialized areas such as health, medicine, transport, and the environment.

Four main decision-making institutions lead the EU's administration. Together, these institutions provide the EU with political guidance and play different roles in the legislative process.
