  12. On the night of May 16, 2025, Valve released a new update for Counter-Strike 2, covering a range of changes in gameplay, graphics, and sound. The patch aims to enhance the overall gaming experience, fix bugs, and improve feedback clarity during firefights. Key Changes in the 05/16/2025 Patch One of the main new features is the change in the logic of the Deathmatch mode — now it allows teams with an unequal number of players. This update is intended to speed up match launches and ease training, especially on servers with low activity. Valve is allowing asymmetric team distribution in the standard mode for the first time, indicating a gradual adaptation to a more dynamic style of play. Graphics: Fixes for AK-47 and Aiming Valve continues to improve weapon display in CS2, and this time the focus is on the AK-47: Fixed a bug where the fire from a Molotov cocktail or incendiary grenade was visible through the AK-47 model in first-person mode. Fixed lighting on stickers that cover the gap on the front grip of the rifle — in left-hand mode, they will no longer appear unrealistically lit. Resolved a bug with the display of inventory icons while aiming: previously, images could appear distorted or incorrect during sniper rifle scopes. These changes are particularly important for players who use non-standard character appearance settings and actively use skins and stickers. Sound: More Accurate Feedback for AK-47 The update also affected the game's audio components, making shooting with the AK-47 more realistic and informative: Shortened the start of the AK-47 firing sound, making the shooting sharper and closer to the real moment of the shot. Reduced the delay in body hit sound from the shooter's perspective — instead of the standard ~150 ms, the feedback sound will now be almost instantaneous. New audio priority mechanism: body hit sounds from the shooter's perspective will temporarily lower the volume of other sounds (shots, ambient noise) to provide the player with clear and immediate audio feedback. This update reduces audio load during tense moments and helps better understand if a player hit the enemy, without relying solely on the crosshair or chat. CLICK TO READ FULL NEWS

  16. PGL Astana quarter-finals as they happened CLICK TO READ FULL NEWS QUARTER-FINALS! Spirit vs NiP – HIGHLIGHTS - PGL Astana 2025 | CS2:
  17. NIP performed above expectations but still fell to the tournament favorites. Tournament favorites Spirit continued their flawless run through PGL Astana by defeating Ninjas in Pyjamas 2-0 in the quarter-final. After a straightforward 13-8 victory on NIP's pick of Train, Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer's side surprised by storming to a 10-3 lead on Spirit's stronghold of Dust2. In 2025, only Falcons and Vitality have beaten Sergey "hally" Shavaev's squad on the map but NIP came two rounds away from adding their name to that list. A Myroslav "zont1x" Plakhotia Five-SeveN triple, however, turned the tides and Spirit erected a wall on CT side to maintain their 100% win-rate in Kazakhstan ahead of a semi-final against FURIA tomorrow. That's now eight map wins in a row for Spirit, as they attempt to turn the $1.25m tournament into a procession given their status as the sole top-four team in attendance. So far, so good. Job done: NIP climb to 25th on VRS with QF run chopper: "We're not in excellent shape" It's obvious that Spirit and everyone else in Kazakhstan expect them to lift the trophy on Sunday. The gulf is so big in the team list that Leonid "chopper" Vishnyakov could honestly tell James "BanKs" Banks the team were "not in excellent shape" whilst winning all eight of the maps they have played in Astana. It remains to be seen whether a team can push Spirit like Ninjas in Pyjamas did on Dust2 with the conversion to close. CLICK TO READ FULL NEWS
  18. molodoy topped the scoreboard amidst a raucous reception from his home crowd. FURIA have continued their fairytale run at PGL Astana in Danil "molodoy" Golubenko's debut, defeating MIBR 2-0 (Nuke 16-13, Train 13-2) to secure a semi-final spot. Nuke was a tale of two T sides, as both squads got their best work done on offense. MIBR's force-buy after a lost pistol kicked off their attack, and their up-tempo approach was difficult for FURIA to deal with. Some key Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis and molodoy frags, however, ensured FURIA earned a tied half. FURIA's T side was slower, more default-heavy, and one that MIBR struggled to read early doors. As the half wore on MIBR got a better grasp of things, with Lucas "Lucaozy" Neves and Felipe "insani" Yuji doing the heavy lifting, but FURIA cobbled together a couple of isolated rounds to force OT. MIBR seemed to have run out of steam by the extra rounds, with FURIA romping easily to victory via a 4-1 score. Train was a complete blowout in FURIA's favour, thanks in no small part to molodoy's 2.11-rated showing, despite the international squad starting on the T side. MIBR tried to play aggressive on defense but ran into FURIA's defaults, before switching things up to play passive, but being unable read the rounds. As a result FURIA took a huge lead into the second half, which they easily converted upon. CLICK TO READ FULL NEWS
  19. An Astralis side revitalized by HooXi's leadership were deserved winners over a lacklustre NAVI. Astralis have continued their surprise run in PGL Astana by taking down Natus Vincere 2-1, securing their semi-final berth with wins on Nuke (16-13) and Ancient (13-6) either side of a loss on Mirage (8-13). Astralis kicked off their Nuke T side in the ascendency, thanks to Victor "Staehr" Staehr's efforts in the pistol round and a Nicolai "device" Reedtz clutch on a force-buy in the third. Once guns came up for Natus Vincere, however, they dominated, shutting down Astralis' Upper hits and controlling the map with intelligent, well-timed aggression. With a winning first half under their belts Natus Vincere looked set to secure Nuke after winning their T pistol, but Astralis won another force-buy to put themselves in control. With Astralis creeping towards victory, Mihai "iM" Ivan and Justinas "jL" Lekavicius came up with impact rounds to haul Natus Vincere to map point and put Astralis' economy in the bin. Mirage was a more one-sided affair, with Natus Vincere showing why they are considered one of the best teams in the world on the map. Ihor "w0nderful" Zhdanov took control of his team's CT half to guide them to a dominant 10-2 advantage, and although some more force-buy shenanigans allowed Astralis to get back into the game and pad out their score, Natus Vincere duly secured a decider. HooXi's calling was certainly a boon for the Danes in this series. On Ancient in particuar, Natus Vincere could not handle the T side he was throwing at them, and he made a risky gamble late on CT that paid dividends, as explained by Staehr: "The force-buy we had, we knew they would come B, it was just perfect. That's a HooXi masterclass." CLICK TO READ FULL NEWS
  20. The Turkish team have gone out in their first playoff match five events in a row but have progressed against a team with similar issues. Aurora have ended a streak of five first-round playoff defeats in a row by overcoming The MongolZ in PGL Astana's first quarter-final. The 2-0 win means revenge for Aurora against the team that defeated them in IEM Katowice's arena, in the first of those five first-match exits. If you include BLAST Bounty's grand final, it was six matches without a win in the playoffs — a fact Özgür "woxic" Eker was more than aware of. "We made it," the AWPer beamed on stage post-game with James "BanKs" Banks. "We broke the curse." Both teams have been labelled as playoff chokers since that bout, making the matchup an intriguing one to open the Barys Arena even before you add in their rare status as their respective country's hegemons. Ali "Wicadia" Haydar Yalçın (122 ADR on Mirage) and woxic (30-16 on Anubis), however, combined to remove most of that intrigue with domineering performances. "I think this is like our seventh playoff, so I hope we can do it this time," woxic told HLTV pre-game. "I don't want to jinx it." And that, he certainly did not, as the 26-year-old sniper made Anubis his playground with 31 frags to close it out. click to read full news
