This engine introduced realistic physics, advanced lighting, dynamic shadows, and smoother animations compared to Counter-Strike 1.6. One of the most noticeable changes was how grenades behaved—smoke grenades produced volumetric smoke that could fill rooms, block vision naturally, and disperse realistically. Environmental interactions, such as breakable objects and physics-based props, added immersion that had never been seen in Counter-Strike before.
