The legendary Pac-Man is making a grand return: to commemorate Pac-Man's 45th anniversary, My Arcade has announced a new range of retro handheld consoles that bring back some of the most iconic titles in the saga (including Pac-Man (Classic), Pac-Man (Speed-Up), Super Pac-Man, Pac-Land, and Pac & Pal), with an aesthetic design inspired by the legendary 80s arcade game.

Under the name Pac-Man 45th Anniversary Collection, the company has announced the release of two models: the Mighty Player, a "mini arcade"-style handheld console, and the Pocket Player Max, with a more conventional handheld format. With this announcement, My Arcade not only celebrates a historic milestone in the video game industry but also capitalizes on the current retro trend.

 

Two retro consoles with a nostalgic feel
Since its debut in 1980, Pac-Man has established itself as one of the most recognizable and beloved video games in history, a symbol of the birth of modern video games and arcades. With this new series of retro consoles, My Arcade aims to revive this timeless feeling that captivated generations, especially veteran gamers, collectors, and retro enthusiasts.

With a suggested retail price of $119.99 (approximately €112 at the current exchange rate), the Pac-Man 45th Anniversary Mighty Player includes the official titles Pac-Man (Classic), Pac-Man (Speed-Up), Pac-Land, Super Pac-Man, and Pac & Pal. It features a 3.5-inch color screen in a vertical orientation, just like the arcade machines of the 80s, and like them, it's built on a wooden frame that emulates their shape.

It has an analog joystick and two action buttons, in addition to four other control buttons. It also includes volume control and an analog audio output with a 3.5 mm minijack connector. As a portable console, it has a lithium-ion battery that, according to the manufacturer, provides about 5-6 hours of battery life, but it also includes a power adapter for recharging the battery or playing while plugged in.
