At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, BMW used the hillclimb to show that this concept is not purely a static design object — it can perform.

The presence at Goodwood also aligned with BMW’s broader display of innovation, performance, and heritage, combining cars and motorcycles on their stand. BMW Group PressClub

The debut run helped silence skeptics who might have dismissed the Concept RR as a “show bike only” — it proved capable of dynamic performance.

The BMW R 1250 GSA / GS Adventure (“1250 GSA”) is indeed a very big bike. It’s large in several dimensions: weight, height, width, and seat height. Here’s a breakdown of what “very big” means in its case, plus some pros & cons of owning/riding something this size.

BMW GSA 1250 R Very big bike

Here are some of the trade-offs with a bike of this size:

Pros:

  • Comfort on long rides: plenty of space, good wind protection, stable at speed.
  • Big fuel tank: allows long range between refuels.
  • Off-road capable when equipped: big suspension travel, robust build, though not light.
  • Lots of power and torque for carrying luggage, passenger, etc.

Cons:

  • Tougher to manage in tight spaces (traffic, narrow roads).
  • Getting on/off, putting it upright after a tip-over is harder due to weight.
  • More physically demanding (especially for shorter or lighter riders).
  • More costly in terms of parts, tires, fuel, maintenance in general.

The Yamaha MT-09 SP is already a stand-out hyper naked, with its 890 cc inline-three CP3 engine producing about 119 hp (≈ 87.5 kW) at 10,000 rpm and 93 Nm of torque around 7,000 rpm. moto-data.net+3bikez.net+3motorcyclespecs.co.za+3 Its high-end components — premium suspension (41 mm KYB inverted fork up front, Öhlins rear shock), Brembo Stylema front calipers, full electronic aids via a 6-axis IMU (traction control, slide control, wheelie control, etc.) — give it serious capability and sharp handling.

Adding an Akrapovic exhaust to the MT-09 SP transforms the experience: the bike gains a more aggressive sound — deeper, more metallic, and more resonant through the rev range — particularly when you crack open the throttle. The exhaust also typically sheds some weight compared to the stock system, improving responsiveness and agility, especially when cornering or accelerating hard. Riders report that while it’s noticeably louder, it doesn’t become uncomfortably noisy — especially if you retain any baffles or if the system is homologated.

In sum, MT-09 SP + Akrapovic gives you a sharper, more visceral ride: more character, more presence (both sonically and visually), while preserving the excellent handling, agility and electronics that make the SP version special.
